Three retired US army generals have warned of rebellion or civil war if the results of the 2024 presidential election are not accepted by the military.

Retired Generals Paul D. Eaton and Antonio M. Taguba joined with retired Brigadier General Steven M. Anderson in urging today's leaders to prevent such incidents, calling today's leaders a "war game" to try to overthrow them.

Published Friday, former military leaders said they were "deeply concerned" about "deadly chaos in our military, which could put all Americans at serious risk" after the election.
They warned of a "total breakdown of the chain of command along party lines" and the risk of a "shadow government" led by a losing candidate who refuses to admit defeat, referring directly to former President Donald Trump.
In short: We are happy in our bones when we think about the coup that will succeed in the future," he wrote.
In expressing his concerns, the general pointed to the fact that several veterans and active duty personnel were involved in storming the Capitol on January 6 and expressed concern that divisions within the larger community would affect military personnel.

"The potential for a complete breakdown of the chain of command along the sidelines - from the top of the chain to the team level - is important if another rebellion is to occur," the general wrote. "The concept of brutal unit organizing to support. The 'ideal' commander cannot be fired."
"Imagine competing presidents - newly re-elected Biden giving orders, versus Trump (or another Trump figure) issuing orders as head of the shadow government," he said. Worse, imagine politicians at the state and federal levels illegally installing losing presidential candidates.
Trump continues to maintain that the 2020 presidential election was marred by voter fraud and other crimes that led to his victory — claims that have been repeatedly rejected by courts and post-election hearings. Many of Trump's Republican colleagues have also pushed back on these baseless claims.
The generals warned that while US service members swear to uphold the Constitution, in the event of a contested election, loyalties will be divided and some may choose to follow the instructions of a losing candidate who did not admit defeat.

"In such circumstances, it is not unusual to say that the withdrawal of the army could lead to civil war," they wrote. If such a situation arises, the generals warn the US's enemies. they can use that opportunity.
However, the generals seem hopeful that they can be prevented if Congress and the military "take decisive action now."

Three retired US army generals have warned of rebellion or civil war if the results of the 2024 presidential election are not accepted by some in the military.

Former Major General Paul Eaton, former Major General. Antonio Taguba, and former Brig. gen. Steven Anderson made the warning in an op-ed in the Washington Post on Friday.
They wrote that they are "more worried" about the 2024 elections and "the possibility of deadly chaos in our military."
The generals pointed to a "disturbing number" of veterans and active members of the military who participated in the January 6 attack on the Capitol by Trump supporters - more than 1 in 10 of those accused had a record of service.
They described a possible scenario where, after the 2024 election, some service members could pledge allegiance to "Trumpian losers" who refuse to admit defeat and try to lead a shadow government.

"In such circumstances, it is not unusual to say that the withdrawal of the army could lead to civil war," they wrote.
Since the last election, the generals have warned that more chaos and divisions are emerging in the armed forces.
They point to the latest resistance in the military to the vaccination mandate, such as the refusal to comply led by the commander of the Oklahoma National Guard, Brig. gen. Thomas Mancino.
Mancino said that when the Oklahoma Guard was disorganized, its commander was the state's Republican governor, not the president.

The generals wrote that they fear that if 2024 is a contested election that divides loyalties, there is "the possibility of a complete breakdown of the chain of command and the sidelines."
"The idea of rogue groups banding together to support 'decent' warlords cannot be dismissed," he said.
The generals urged that everything be done to prevent another rebellion, including the arrest of the leader who encouraged the latter to answer.
They said there was work for the military to do, such as exploring how to deal with illegal orders and conducting intelligence work to identify and eliminate potential insurgents.

The General also suggested that the Ministry of Defense "game war" may be the situation after the election to identify weak points and put "defense".
