Air and water shows take place along and above Lake Michigan from Bradford Beach to McKinley Beach north of Milwaukee.
Entry to the air show is free. But to get closer to the action, there are several reserved seating areas along McKinley Park south of McKinley Beach. Tickets for CenterPoint near McKinley Beach are $10.50 to $36.75 daily; Sunday Flight Line seats start at just $15.75, while Sky-Chalet VIP seats range from $36.75 to $183.75. Tickets are available on the air show website at mkeairwatershow.com and will go on sale July 22 at the venue's box office.
According to the air show's website, the lakeside park reserved for the event is already sold out. But Rogers noted that there should be parking in the Milwaukee County Parks pastures from McKinley Marina south to Veterans Park; plots open both days at 7:30 a.m. Parking is in the O'Donnell Park building across from the Milwaukee Art Museum, as well as street parking in the surrounding areas. In addition, Rogers said there are handicapped parking spots along Lincoln Memorial Drive that are marked by the Sheriff's Department.
The Milwaukee Air and Water Show continues regardless of the weather, but some events may pull the plug if certain weather conditions exist, such as dangerous wave conditions or poor visibility. (The latter forced the cancellation of some shows in 2019 and caused the Thunderbirds to suspend their 2018 run.)

The Blue Angels take to the wings at 15:00 as the finale of both aviation days. July 23-24. Rogers noted that the Angels will be flying the new F/A-18 Super Hornets on their way to Milwaukee. The Blue Angels will be performing at the Milwaukee Air Show for the first time since 2017. The B-29 Doc History Restored Tour will make a stop in Milwaukee before heading to EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh next week. That was the theme Thursday as the US Navy Blue Angels prepared for their weekend shows in Milwaukee. The audience sees the final product and simply the culmination of a month of training, countless hours of preparation and its successful group of people.
Milwaukee Air & Water Show; Last Day Of Preparations
"There's a lot going on behind the scenes for just one pilot and one jet to take off," he said.
Stangel, a professional pilot, is one of the main characters of this year's event. Wearing a headset, he receives audio signals from one of the pilots and converts them into images for the spectators and announces what the pilots are doing and what movements are coming up. In between, he shares the history of the Blue Angels.
But far from Hollywood, critical work involving many people takes place long before the Super Hornets take to the runway.
Kathleen Forster, Blue Angels maintenance engineer, serves as one of the experts behind the scenes. It specializes in servicing jet engines, fuel systems and smoke systems.
Blue Angels Practice Ahead Of Milwaukee's Air And Water Show
"It's a lot like working with a car," said Forster, who is also a pilot. Any type of oil change or part replacement must be taken care of to ensure that the safest jet is sent on every flight.
"When we (the six demonstration pilots) land the planes first, we have our own little hype," Forster said.
"You don't have a lot of time to turn your head (to take in) the view," he said.
The Blue Angels have not performed in Milwaukee since 2017 due to pandemic and weather related issues.

"It's been good to get back to showcasing sites we haven't been to in a few years," Forster said. "It seems like the locals are really excited to have us here. These air and water shows seem to be growing and growing."
Stangel is coming next year in 2023 to shows in Milwaukee on July 22-23.
Women serve in other roles in the Blue Angels squadron - this year as flight surgeon, civil service officer and maintenance manager - this is the first time a woman has flown a Blue Angels jet.
Being selected requires rigorous training and experience, and it is an honor to be in the squadron. But with all that experience, coming to a site like Milwaukee still comes with special considerations.
Milwaukee Air & Water Show Practice Runs Fuel Excitement
Since most of their performances are over airfields, pilots have to prepare and think a little differently when flying over water, Stangel said.
After taking off from the Air National Guard's 128th Refueling Wing at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport, the plane flies through the city itself.
As for the flight itself, Stangel - nicknamed "Push-Pop" - likened it to a roller coaster.

The Madison-based 115th Fighter Wing uses Mitchell International Airport as an alternate landing site. Because of bad weather last week, F-16 Fighting Falcons landed there and then flew to Madison after the weather cleared.

According to the U.S. Air National Guard, the skies above Milwaukee and Mitchell are used to deliver in-flight fuel to the U.S. military to extend their range. In such cases, however, they can also be used in situations where pilots may have to stop due to danger or unexpected circumstances.
The F-16 Falcon is a type of aircraft developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force. Since the initial production approval in 1976, more than 4,600 of these aircraft have been produced. There are just over 10 aircraft at the base in Madison.
It is relatively common for the 115th Fighter Wing to train over central Wisconsin to Lake Michigan. In February, the 115th Fighter Wing conducted night training flights that Wisconsinites could see or hear from their homes.
